Time to TELL

Tools for Employment Lending Library

In 2026 ASAP's Tools For Empowerment project (TFE) will begin to address the needs of local students by establishing the Tools for Employment Lending Library (TELL) - to remove one of the most persistent barriers facing career and technical education students - the high upfront cost of industry-required tools.

TFE has been ongoing since 2015. Since then, our amazing local community has generously donated their time, tools, treasure and expertise to sort, clean, refurbish, pack and fill SIX shipping containers of life-changing trade tool donations - that's over ten tons of hand tools and power equipment!  These have been donated to Mission Schools to help improve teaching and learning and to help graduates become self-reliant. These tools continue to help families in Haiti, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Zimbabwe and Peru earn a living today

Volunteers like 'Papa Nash" and his grandson make TFE Possible

TFE will continue to provide tools to help youth in the Dominican Republic and Zimbabwe become self-reliant while serving youth in our local community.

Thanks again to the Church of St. Timothy's

Thanks again to our friends at the Church of St. Timothy in Blaine MN for supporting ASAP's Tools Empowering Youth in Zimbabwe project this year.

This project will provide locally sourced tools for twenty youth featured in this video. Secondary School building club students will own their own tools when they graduate, which will empower them to find work in Zimbabwe. In addition, the project will provide sewing machines for Out of School Adolescents currently enrolled in vocational training in Mutare.

St. Timothy Social Justice Outreach Program (STOP) has been funding human development projects around the world since 1972. ASAP is so grateful for past support from STOP, as are the hundreds of families in the Dominican Republic, Peru and El Salvador have benefitted from  ASAP's Tools For Empowerment project.

It's been a challenging five years! Our community has remained united and, despite obstacles, through Tools For Empowerment we provided two 40' containers of recycled tools and equipment to help families in Peru and the Dominican Republic become self-reliant.

Special thanks to the Church of St. Timothy's in Blaine MN and The Word of God Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg GA for their unwavering financial support during these challenging times - and OF COURSE, all of you who donated tools, time, talent and treasure.
